Theatre Club of Istanbul Medeniyet University staged the performance "Latife-i Medeniyet" on May 21st at 6:00 PM, at the Aşık Paşa Conference Hall. The event drew great interest from our university students and was also attended by members of the academic and administrative staff, along with families.
The program featured a variety of plays, including "Bir Adam Var Gülemiyor" written by Ceren KAPLAN, "Mafya Siz misiniz?" co-written by Yusuf Hamza TEPEYURT and Deniz YILDIZ, "Yeni Dünyaya Yeni Adet" by Yusuf Hamza TEPEYURT, "Anormal Psikoloji" authored by Büşra ARAS, and "Sihirli Lamba" penned by Mina SERBEST.
Following the event, Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Prof.Dr. Ubeydullah SEZİKLİ, who attended the event with his family, delivered a speech in which he extended his gratitude to the academic advisor and director of the Theatre Club, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Rüstem MÜRSELOĞLU, and to Şeyma ESEN, the president of the club. Prof. Dr. Ubeydullah SEZİKLİ emphasized that such events positively contribute to students’ morale and motivation ahead of final exams, and further noted that they foster increased interest in the arts—particularly theatre—among students from various academic disciplines at the university.
He also underlined that theatre clubs consist of individuals who unconditionally love the art of theatre and have experienced the essence of the stage. In this regard, he stressed the importance of sustaining the Theatre Club as an independent entity from the Department of Performing Arts.
Supervised by the Head of the Department of Performing Arts, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Rüstem MÜRSELOĞLU, and led by Şeyma ESEN, the Theatre Club has achieved notable success by staging two separate performances within a single academic year.
At the end of the event, Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture Prof.Dr. Ubeydullah SEZİKLİ, Prof.Dr. Doğan ARSLAN from the Department of Visual Communication Design, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seda TÜFEKÇİOĞLU, Vice Dean of the Faculty and faculty member in the Department of Turkish Music, presented certificates of appreciation to the student members of the Theatre Club.
