The article titled "Ecofeminism in the Play Sevgili Arsız Ölüm Dirmit," authored by Assoc. Prof. Bahar YILDIRIM SAĞLAM from the Department of Performing Arts at Istanbul Medeniyet University’s Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, has been published in the journal Sanat ve Yorum (Art and Interpretation), which is indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).

We congratulate our faculty member on this valuable academic contribution and wish her continued success.

The study examines the play Sevgili Arsız Ölüm Dirmit—adapted from Latife Tekin's novel of the same name, directed by Hakan Emre Ünal, and performed by Nezaket Erden—through the lens of ecofeminism. The analysis is conducted under the headings of the nomadic subject, the machine, and the man-human. The article explores the instrumentalization of both humans and nature by patriarchal traditions, the fragmentation of the subject, and the dualities created by rural-to-urban migration.

Furthermore, the article opens an interdisciplinary discussion on migration and the resulting uncertainty, displacement, and insecurity—alongside the hope that drives migration despite these challenges. It also addresses capitalism and the exploitation, inequality, alienation, and loss of identity it produces, analyzed in conjunction with the paintings of Nuri İyem, İbrahim Balaban, and Nedim Günsür, and the photographs of Ara Güler.
