The 2nd IMÜ Design Days, organized by the Visual Communication Design Department of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture of Istanbul Civilization University, was held at the IMÜ North Campus between May 6–9, 2025. The event, which was brought to life with the contributions of the Design Office, Animu (Animation Community), Art and Design Community, and IMÜ Studio, an initiative of Visual Communication Design students, brought together expert speakers from many disciplines such as interactive experience design, advertising, script writing, and picture book creation for four days.
On the opening day of the event, May 6, 2025, Illusionist Digital Art Studio founder Ahmet Gürbüz gave a presentation on interactive experience design. Gürbüz touched on the importance of interdisciplinary production in the digital age and explained the relationship between teamwork, entrepreneurship and innovation through multimedia design examples. In his speech, he also drew attention to the connection between creativity and reading culture and literature.
In the same session, Illusionist Digital Art Studio concept designers Beren Gönen and Ece Hendek shared important tips on portfolio preparation processes. Then, they contributed to the production in workshops held with students.
On the second day of the event, art director and graphic artist Şadi Akburak met with participants with his presentation titled “Design vs/and Advertising”. Akburak shared his creative processes and the advertising-design relationship with examples, as well as his experiences in the transition to professional life. On the same day, screenwriter Hazal İnaltekin made a presentation focusing on the writing processes of series scripts. She provided information about the working conditions of screenwriters and script dramaturgy, and conveyed script writing techniques to students within a theoretical framework.
The third day began with the participation of children's book author Tülin Kozikoğlu, editor Keriman Güldiken and illustrator Hüseyin Sönmezay. The session focused on the children's book "Dönmedolap" and detailed the creation and illustration process. The book's printing designs in different countries were also discussed with examples, and cultural design differences were touched upon.
On the same day, Marmara University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yüce Sayılgan shared information about basic lighting and camera techniques with students in the workshop titled “Light Workshop.”
The last day of the event featured Lecturer Sanem Özkan's "Portfolio Evaluation" seminar and "Chat with Graduates" sessions. In the last session, graduate students Hakan Özkan, Asutan Yılmaz, Büşra Kahraman and Umut Sevme came together with students and shared their experiences regarding their career journeys.
